Finding Him Gay For You Romance The Law of Men Book 1 edition by Chad Lane Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

What can I say? This book was so moving. One man in a loveless marriage trying to hold it together and another man who is open about being gay but is lonely. There were sparks between the two but Ben having been raised in a Christian home is bent on saving his marriage. Tobias a divorce attorney who has become jaded about love. This story explores the attraction before and after Ben's wife leaves him for another man.

This a must read for everyone.
I liked that Ben figures out that his marriage has been a fake one. Ashleigh was looking for what she called the perfect family, and Ben was trying to be something for his family. But as life changes bring his desires face to face, he learns that a very handsome man is his future. Tobias has away that turn heads. And meeting Ben , he knows he has to be with this man. Then finding out he is straight, only made it more interesting. But Tobias learns a lot about his self and he wants to change. But along the way he has let down hall's and feels the need to change more than he wants to admit. Love, marriage is foreign to him. He is a divorce lawyer. I look forward to the continuing.
There are a lot of typos and grammar mistakes, but not so many that it would have bothered me had I been satisfied with the story. Warning, the rest of my review has spoilers.

One of the main characters, Ben, is still with his wife even at the 50% mark. However, at the end, it felt like I had only read half a story. Ben's divorce is still not finalized, neither of them have said "I love you", and Ben hasn't come out to his family. Ben still doesn't have a permanent job and he hasn't moved in with Tobias so where is he going to live when he can't make his rent payment?
Discovering who you are is never easy or painless. What makes the process more tolerable, is having someone with you that understands what you are going through. Lane gives us two flawed human beings, with thoughts, feelings just like everyone else.

This is a modern romance with old fashioned values that everyone can enjoy. Place is in the city, so many people can visualize without Lane having to bog us down with lengthy descriptions or boring landscapes. We see city and outlaying areas, urban and suburb. There is a bit of sex but nothing that mature adults can withstand. Lane shows what happens with a marriage of convenience or when one party loves more than another-in both straight and gay relationships. There isn't a one-stop fixes all nor is there fault thrown in anyone's faces. Lane shows that feelings change and we can't change who we love.

Lane does a really good job with characterizations, no one over-the-top, no one mealy-mouthed either. A good balance, in my humble opinion. There is a good pace to the short story, there wasn't an overlooked feeling. I give 5 stars.
I find that I don't believe in the overarching concept of this series, 'gay for you.' Most gay men of my acquaintance knew from childhood that they were gay, and I find it very hard to believe that a hetero fellow who has always thought of himself as hetero and who is married would be at all interested in a man. Maybe it could happen, but I don't really buy it--especially when, in the book, the guy thinks to himself about how straight he is and, nope, not one bit gay. That was just cheesy. On the other hand, given the premise of the series, maybe it is the sort of comment that the character had to make.

Ben is an office temp working at the law firm of Tobias, a high-powered lawyer who does know himself to be gay. I have problems with this relationship from right here. People in the social class of degreed professionals hang out with and marry other people in the social class of degreed professionals, by and large. I can see a lawyer having a fling with his temp, but having a real relationship...I look at that and think, "Someone's potentially being used." Yes, people have office romances all the time, but it is never a good idea; the co-workers always know. That makes it hard for me to believe in the stability of the romance.

Next objection The only sympathetic female character I saw in this book was the (refreshingly well-portrayed) gynecologist, who is working with Ben and his appallingly selfish wife regarding their infertility problem, which the wife is using as part of her excuse to cheat on Ben. I guess the author's logic is, if the wife were someone who Ben could genuinely love, he wouldn't be interested in Tobias--and there's a lot to be said for that. But she was just an unmitigatedly selfish bitch. She is so selfish, in fact, that I began to doubt Ben's intelligence

There was also an obviously gay fellow office clerk who is put into the story to be obviously gay (swishy). He was annoying to the characters; never mind being annoying to me, as well.

For me, the writing was passable, but this is not the type of gay romance I was looking to read. Your opinion might differ.
